Texas AgFinance Awards Six Scholarships to Texas A&M University Students

Texas AgFinance provided $3,000 in scholarship awards recognizing Texas A&M University students' outstanding entrepreneurial talents, abilities, and accomplishments while preparing and presenting their rural entrepreneurial business plans. These business plans were prepared in association with the Agricultural Economics 424 “Rural Entrepreneurship I” and Agricultural Economics 425 “Rural Entrepreneurship II” classes at Texas A&M University. The scholarship awards were divided in two categories, presentation and written business plan. Mark Miller, Texas AgFinance Chief Credit Officer, presented the scholarships to the students on May 4, 2011, in College Station, Texas.

The presentation scholarships were awarded with the sole criteria being the student’s performance in presenting their final business plan and their interactions with their Expert Panel, consisting of an Entrepreneur, Lender, and Venture Capitalist. The written business plan scholarships were awarded with the criteria being the written business plan prepared by the student.

The presentation scholarship recipients were:

First $750 Thomas Cobb, sweet corn production & marketing
Second $500 Mary Katherine White, commercial cow-calf
Third $250 Heather Stokes, hair salon

The written business plan scholarship recipients were:
